A Letter From Our President
Hello Gator Band Family, I would like to introduce the newest members of the Gator Band Boosters. We are a group of passionate individuals who are excited about the culture and the new direction of our band program. I am Jennifer Guck, the President of the Boosters. I have two children attending Gray Middle School. My daughter Kelsey is in 8th grade and Plays the Trombone, Tuba, Trumpet and French Horn. All four of my children have had the honor of having Mr. Briggs as a teacher through the years and to say the least, he is Awesome.
Next, I’d like to introduce Shantrelle Dickens, whose child, Jemiah plays Saxophone in sixth grade. We are super excited to have Shantrelle as Vice President. We have a wonderful Fundraising and communications Committee comprised of Eliana Ascolese, AJ Gladding and Charles Ammick. Eliana owns Chefing It Up Cafe, along with her Husband Vincent. Her son Maddox is in Eighth Grade, and plays the Drums (percussion). Eliana is spear heading the communications committee and is excited to be starting an organization that will benefit students and music for years to come. AJ Gladding is the Father of Trenton Gladding, an 8th grade jazz band playing Trombone. He likes the fact that this is a Parent led organization created to enrich the band experience, as well as promote growth and unity in the Gator band family. Charles Ammick’s daughter, Lily, is in 6th Grade and plays the French horn. Charles is another part of the public relations/communications team. Rick Keiser will be head of logistics/transportation. His daughter, Erin is a percussionist. She plays Xylophone/Vibes and is in 8th grade. He is excited about Mr. Briggs (as he should be) and always wants to be involved in his daughter’s life and encourage their interests.
Our Gator Band Booster Club is full of parents excited about new prospects for our children and hope this family extends from Gray Middle School to South Lake High School. Let’s face it, the middle school years can be hard on everyone, especially our kids, but having support and something to be passionate about can be such a bright spot. We, along with Mr. Briggs, hope the Gator Band program will be a place for all students to feel welcome and challenged to create music to inspire others. I’ve always found when words fail me, music rarely does.
We are truly excited about this first year! We are finding new ways to inspire our Gator Band Students, raise money for the band and create opportunities to strengthen the culture of the Gator Band. We are still looking for volunteers for all activities. All parents are welcome to our Booster meetings. We would especially love 6th and 7th grade parents so this program will continue to grow throughout the years.
